Investor fit finder: which investors should you be talking to?

Most rejections are fit problems, not quality problems: the wrong stage, the wrong check size, the wrong kind of money. Answer eight questions and get a ranked list of investor types with first steps for each.

Question 1
How much do you need to raise now?

The eight types of early-stage money

Angels, seed funds and micro-VCs, venture capital, corporate venture capital, accelerators, grants and public programs, revenue-based financing and venture debt, and equity crowdfunding. Each has a stage, a check size, a speed and a price.

Fit before pitch

A seed fund with a $1M minimum will not write a $150k check no matter how good the deck is. A VC needs a path to a $1B outcome. A grant needs a research angle. Filter by fit first and the conversion rate of your outreach doubles.

Combining sources

Most seed rounds combine two: angels plus a seed fund, a grant plus angels, an accelerator plus its demo day investors. The quiz shows the second-best fit when it is close.

After the quiz

Build a list of 30 to 50 investors of the right type, check their last three investments, and start with the ones who invested in your sector in the past two years.

Questions founders ask

Is this a matching tool?

It is a heuristic by investor type. SeedScope’s matching works at the level of individual investors.

What if grants come out on top?

Grants take months; start applications now and raise private money in parallel if you need speed.
