SAFE

A Simple Agreement for Future Equity: money now, shares later, at the next priced round.

Created by Y Combinator in 2013. The investor pays now and receives shares when the company raises a priced round, at a price set by a valuation cap or a discount. It has no interest and no maturity date, which makes it faster and cheaper than a convertible note.
