How to use the comparison
Decide what you are optimising for first: investor access, cost of engineering, non-dilutive money or personal taxes. Then compare three countries on that axis, not seventeen on everything. Most venture-backed companies end up with a Delaware or UK holding company and an operating subsidiary where the team sits.
What the columns mean
Corporate tax is the headline rate on profits; startups rarely pay it in the first years, so visa rules, R&D incentives and investor relief usually matter more. Investor incentives such as SEIS, EIS and INVEST lower the price of angel money and change where angels invest.
What is not here
Personal income tax, payroll costs, employee option taxation and immigration for hires. They matter as much and change faster; ask a local advisor before you incorporate. Tell us about a mistake and we will fix it.
Questions founders ask
Where should a non-US startup incorporate?
If you plan to raise from US investors, a Delaware C-corp parent with a local subsidiary is the default. If your market and investors are European, a local company or a UK or Estonian holding is often simpler and cheaper.
Does a startup visa get me funding?
No. Most require funding or an endorsement first. The programs column lists what the country actually gives founders.
How often is this updated?
The last reviewed date is on every card. Budgets change rules once or twice a year; the official source link is the final word.
