Do investors care that the product was AI-built?

Less than founders fear. They care whether you own the code, understand it and can keep it running. Y Combinator’s partners say the question is not who wrote the code but whether the founder can explain it.

Who owns AI-generated code?

It depends on the tool’s terms and your plan. Check that commercial use is allowed, that the output is assigned to the company and that dependencies carry licences you can live with. Put the answer in writing in the data room.

What security basics do investors expect?

No secrets in the repository, access control reviewed by a human, rate limiting on public endpoints, a dependency scan and a tested backup. Generated code often skips all five.

Will you have to rewrite?

Many AI-built companies rewrite the core before Series A. Investors do not mind a rewrite plan; they mind not having one. List the parts, the reasons and the estimate.
